So, I did a thing!

I recently upgraded my Canon 6D Mark 1, the camera that I have shot with for 6 years, to Canon's EOS R6! I am so thrilled with the switch but let me tell you why I did it.

The Canon 6D Mark 1 was the first full frame camera that I purchased for my photography business.

Over the past 6 years it has done me well and has grown with me throughout my photography career. The camera‚Äôs full frame sensor, superb lowlight capabilities, 20 megapixels and dynamic range have made it a great investment to shoot with over the years. The reason I decided to purchase another camera was because I had grown a lot in my experience since I started my business and had found myself needing something different based on my needs and demand in the field.

I must admit that I am a person who loves holding on to old things, old ways, etc. When I saw that technology was changing and camera systems were evolving to take advantage of mirrorless technology, I was reluctant to change. DSLR have always been what I shot with professionally, and they are amazing cameras! their tough body build makes them workhorses and they can literally withstand the toughest bumps and scratches. Although they are phenomenal cameras, I felt like it was truly time to take a leap of faith out of dslr into the mirrorless world of photography because its what many  companies are moving forward with. I also had heard nothing but good feedback regarding mirrorless cameras.

With this idea in mind, after several referrals and video reviews, I decided to go with another canon camera, the EOS R6. The reviews on this mirriorless camera is what caught my attention and after playing with it in store, the decision to purchase was a no brainer.

The very first thing that I realized in comparison to the 6D was how much lighter the R6 was in my hand! I immediately felt relieved at the thought of how better my arms, shoulders and back would feel after a long day of  strenuous shooting.

During the first week with the R6 in my possession. I learned the very basics of the camera so that I could use it for a wedding I had scheduled the following week.

When I went home to review the photos from the wedding,

Lennox turned 3!

Becoming a parent can be truly rewarding. My children inspire me to keep going and it is why I share them often. Lennox celebrated her 3rd birthday  today & we took these photos right inside of our home. My girl loves her some Frozen and she loves to play dress up. I pray that as she grows older, she will remain true to what she loves and who she is inside and out.

So my littles came with me to a session

Noah, Jonah and Lennox accompanied me on my photo session today. I was able to capture a few shots of them in between waiting. I don't usually bring my children with me to sessions, but we had a lot of fun!
